The one time that this Journalist ever spoke to Hopeton Lewis, was donkey years ago, when he was doing a show at Club Carrib, in New Rochelle. I wanted to do a piece on his career. At that time 2001, he was doing shows all over the place and I thought at the time it was a good idea. Needless to say, he gave me his number but the timing was never materialized, so I left it alone he was too busy giving of his time. Generous is more like it to describe him.

THE SPIRITER

JONE ALEXANDER RIVERS

By: C. Harrison/Sept 7, 2014/8:11pm

What is there to say, I only know of and see her on TV; listen to her jokes some were good and other well, one could say poor taste but it was her way of thinking. And whatever she stated she deem it the raw truth…they were her jokes and we laugh at it and her words. The people she criticized are all mad; some took it humorously but other didn’t see the joke in it.

For all her faults and ups & downs; she took it all in stride and march forward…using her witts and spirit-minded ways to give her that push…she stood her ground and made it. As a woman I admired that in her. I am sure she left a road map for young sassy-women comedians all over the world to follow in her foot steps or avoid some of them all together.  She was Brazen; Jone Did It Her Way and loved every moment to the bitter end.

Ripped…..She died Thursday, Sept 4, 2014, at age 81. Buried Today, Sunday, Sept 7, 2014…At Temple Emanu-El -New York City.      My Condolences to her Family.

ACTOR/PRODUCER & BUSINESS MAN RICKY RUSSERT

THROWING IS OWN PUNCHES

According To Published Reports Ricky Russert

Is Great In Banshee

By: C. Harrison/Sept 2, 2014/6:34 pm

WEB-0851

He sounded relaxed , certain of himself and very assertive in his tone. He also sounded like someone, you would want to be around. Recently, August 7th , in a phone interview from California, actor Ricky Russert, shared his story with me.

According to Russert, he is acting because when he first got into acting he found that he had the same feeling of fighting back all kinds of excitement, the same kinds he had when he played sports, as a child and in college. He is also acting because acting was over-powering to him….and three semesters into college he quit his Business Major and took up acting.

“Childwood prepared me for Acting. When you are up there, the bat goes off and you are in the moment,” stated Russert.

Explaining his college years, Russert revealed that he took up quite a bit of Shakespear. He reiterated that he had a great experience doing it. “There, I learned the expression of words, there pronunciations and there effects. These also help me to prepared for acting,” he said. Moreover, Russert said that being in the moment, is the one thing that never  changes in acting. He assured me that the core of a character and the expressions on stage are more embellishments. “I don’t put much though into it, weather I could have become pro, in sport,” he quipped

“I though acting would be fun but its not easy; its a different type of work that drains you mentally, physically and is 18-hours of work on stage sometimes for a few minutes of TV shots,” Russert said.

In addition,  Russert voiced that he tries to keep much of his childwood with him even now.  “Most of the time I was put on the spot by my family and I am still the center of attention  in my family; but, its not what droved me or drives me now,” said the charm sounding actor.  What drives him is that feeling, knowing what he can do with that character. Russert also conceded that the best actors are children, because their imaginations are art.

When asked about his latest film project “Banshee,” and being one of the actor in it. Russert explained that Banshee, is in its third season and  that Banshee is fantastic, the show has a bit of  Quintan Tarantino, about it and has no down sides.” The cool sounding actor, relays that everyone involved is ideal for the show and that the film was shot in Moore’s ville, North Caroline…..a small town. ” He claims that the Southeast is very warm but its been a blast for him.

Russert, conceded that he loves his nieces and nephews and enjoys traveling and loves camping. “I love being on the water. I also enjoy living in the city for a different reason, ” Russert said.

According to Russert, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, who he said is a dietician. She owns a chocolate company. He pointed out that they learn everything from each other and  revealed that both their parents met in high school, as did his fiancée and himself. Russert’s father was a carpenter by trade. Russert proclaimed that he did some of that type work. He said, “I am pretty hands-on with everything. I find that hand-on is the way to go.”

Russert likes to be there for people.  And confessed that he’s pretty much knowledgeable. “If I had to survived on my own or if left in the woods, I could hold my own. I have that ability to adopted to environments,” he articulated

Russert, plays the part of  Tommy Lee Little Stone, who’s a part of the Coniabho Tribe…..a native American gang, the Redbones. Some of the actors in Banshee are:  Stephen Ware… Judge, Tyson Sullivan…Hondo, Antony Starr…Lucas Hood,  Frankie Faison…Sugar Bates, Demetrius Grosse…Deputy Emmett Yawners and Harrison Thomas…Jason Hood….to name a few, too much to name here.

Russert owns Triple R Entertainment, and is an established producer. Watch out for  this heartthrob and soon to be leading actor.

Ricky Russert, is the youngest of three children; born July 22, 1983. He was raised in Kennewick, Washington and some say, born to entertain. He was the center of attention in his family, only because they would put him on the spot during times of family functions. He grew up playing baseball, football, and basketball….along with being an international athlete and trophy winner in Tae-kwon-do at age 10. Russert attended Kennewick High School where he received a scholarship to play college baseball; there, he started his major in Business.  But, it was not until he was reverting and reminiscing on a play he did back in high school, where he played a lawyer in a mock trial competition that Russert got his acting bug back., which besieged him to quit his Business Major, in his Junior year of college, at Washington State University and dive back into acting. He took up acting and history was in the making.

Russert Acted In:

“Banshee”

“Tough”

“Desire”

“Table for Three”

“Why Can’t I Be You,” a few among others.

                                                             Police holding down Eric Garner

By: C. Harrison/Aug 25, 2014

Allow me to first address the killing of Eric Garner which, by all means should not have happened.  The truth about this story is I wanted to do a more in depth story but, I am compelled to state my case now.

First of all, all law enforcement officers should be very mindful of how they are arresting people  and handcuffing them. If a person say to them the handcuff is tight,  loosen it immediately or complain about any ailment do has that suspect ask because that officer does not know that person’s medical history. Intellectually its tricky, possibly hard to do just because one never knows. But the Police department will have to try and come up with solutions.

Officers should be mindful of people with asthma, respiratory ailments heart conditions and eye ailments  etca, These ailments must be considered; though difficult it might be; because their (people’s) breathing can stopped in a manner of minutes and a situation can become fatal instantly.  The story of  Eric Garner is lascivious at best. No officer should take down a suspect by putting his or her hand around that person’s throat;  choking that person and once down another officer sit on their stomach. You just basically cut off any air that person might have had. No one can look at that tape and said these officers used good judgment or common sense.

Even officers  guidelines and policy stated the factor. Why did it happened the way it pend out we may never know. But we are keeping hope alive.

while we all like the vigilance of police officers in and around the community for safety reason, officers must learn and try to understand the community they serve. One can not take a high school veteran cop, even though he went through the police academy….and put that cops in a community of people who may or may not be smarter or affluent or while not smart but can out smart  them.  Officer have to understand that while some of these young people do not go to school they are geniuses. Some of them are very smart and is affluent, while other well are just plain dom. Some give trouble because no one is challenging their brain and teachers don’t know what to do with them. So, earlier on they become class clowns, get kicked out of school and move in with the wrong crowd. we all know that story.  In other case, black men are out there doing the right things, getting ahead but that stigma of been black does them no good in the eyes of some white officers, who seek to or choose to break the rules set down. When you see that black police officers are also speaking out that these things of driving while black, stop and frisked walk a straight line or pull over  just because, we know something is terribly wrong.

Other officers who actually went to college, on the other hand…rarely or seldomly  make these kinds of arrest and mistakes. unless they choose to do so. I am also calling for police officers to have at least two years of college experience and actually graduate. Or have some form of military training.

Gunning down black men and young black youths in the streets are beyond niceties. We are now or should be looking for people with problem solving skills inside the police union to put this issue to rest. A Michael Brown or  Trayvon and so many others; shouldn”t have happen or be happening. We have come too far as one people to allow this to go on. There are far more important crimes going on under our noses and need just attention.

I have stated before that the NYPD, is like a candy store. people joined for what they can get out of it. Some join to help their communities. Some join to keep up a tradition in their family.  Some join to keep an eye on whatever it is they are after. Some join for the environment inside the NYPD; while others join to study and move-on into other federal jobs. take your pick. So, we must understand that not all officers are their to protect us, they are their for the reason they joined.  As I mentioned before, its like a candy store. Thus far, we already see that all spectrum have come together to give ideas and hopefully solve this issue.

We care about our officers they are us some of them white or black, and we are them. They also have friends and families to go home to. Its the people in our community, officers and civilians alike, who thinks that they can out think, out do and out run their gimmicks, who we should be worrying about. And those parents who are on drugs who won”t help or don”t care about their children….because other things are far more important to them. In other  cases, its parents workload and not enough time; yet in other cases, its the fact that some parent do not get along with their children…… youths, are left to fend for themselves. In some of these cases, parents eyes these youths as men; not as children to be reared and help hence, one of the biggest problem.

In Garner case he was sick and had mouths to feed and when you have a family,  they need things.

Robin Williams has made a lot of us laugh out loud throughout his career. We laughed along with him. His work and legend will be talk about in schools and in the history books. By all account his death was felt by all…..but it is,  his encouragement to the young, that will have a lasting impact and will be remembered. He will be missed. He was truly an inspiration.
