REGGAE LEGEND JOHN HOLT MOURNED BY THOUSANDS

RIP AT AGE 69 JOHN HOLT

I knew of John Holt, not personally but his songs and him as a Reggae artist. I first met and saw John Holt, at Club Carib in New Rochelle N.Y., back in 2002-2003 I believe, don’t really remember the date but I do remember him giving me his number to call him for an interview.  I was humbled, I did call but he was out of town; needless to say that was that. There he had performed and brought the house down , I will not forget that night because it was the same night that a little known singer by the name of Teddy Brown, also sang and trilled the audience. A night to remember, money well spend.

John Holt, was a legend in time…he gave us his all over 50-years, and kept his name on the calendar of events each and every year,  all the way up to 2014. He was a stalwart for Jamaica and will be missed dearly.  Thousands of Reggae lovers and Jamaicans alike mourned his passing a few days ago Oct 19, 2014; no one saw it coming…his music will be testimonies to  a generation yet to come and those that are already here.  Some of his biggest hits were: Blondie, Police in Helicopter and The Hide is High….just to mention a few. He was probably one of the most talked about Reggae Artist next to Bob Marley. He lived and die a humble artist with the sweetest voice one could ever hear, right up there with Dennis Brown, Luther Vandross and another veteran reggae artist  Jah Hammed.

Born July 11, 1947 ….he died October 19, 2014

TROUBLED PAST BRIGHT FUTURE/THE GAME CHANGER

The Long Awaited Movie

Game

Reported by: C. Harrison/October 17, 2014/11:21PM

This movie was implemented out of a vision and the quest for wanting more for his family, himself and out of life…. a way out of the Ghetto.  Once in a while a new game changer come along and this film’s producer is that person. He is not just any player in the filed of the Entertainment Industry, he is (the) Entertainment Business. He is a promoter, a music producer…composer, director, writer, actor, hip-hop artist and producer…writer of movies; along with artist management…..Multi-talented to the core. Thus, here comes his first signature film and it’s already blown-up; hitting two major theaters at the end of October for its Red Carpet Affairs. The Linden Cinemas Multiplex and The Sunrise Cinemas Multiplex, the 30th  and the 31st. We believe that his (Kirk Smith’s) talent, will allow him to fly and spread his wings with this movie. He has already shown and proven his worth to us …..that he is to be reckoned with. Go see the movie and judge for your self. Enjoy all…

The movie is about a kid growing up on the rough streets of New York City. After being release from prison for killing his girlfriend at the time; Killah Krome get a second chance, but with bad luck still following him he crosses path with the king of New York, Dreams (Stokley Brown) and spark an outcome of deadly events; while trying to make it in this Ghetto Attitude Manipulative Environment Game.

“Kirk Smith was born and raised in the streets. Life to him, was always like a soundtrack to a motion picture . Growing up on the streets, he saw  a lot and learned a lot about music. From a youngster, Kirk knew what he wanted to be a part of…the Entertainment Industry. He first started  his career as a dj, where he was first known for throwing house parties in the 1980s. He then decided to start focusing more on promoting parties while Djing. Kirk’s street life caught up to him and he was then incarcerated for half of a decade. While in jail, Kirk realized that he wanted to do more than just play music, he saw other entertainers talking about the street life; about his life. And after leaving jail, he meet some childhood friends and started a record label (Player For Life Records). After producing songs with artists such as: Elephant man, Kiprich, Merciless, Diplomat, and managing artists like: Nu Product, Kirk was shot in the head point blank in a home invasion (over a home he was getting ready to buy). He decided to cool out from music for a while.  A couple years after his hiatus from music, he was in a car accident and broke his back and was said never to be able to walk again. After a miraculous recovery, Kirk decided to make a movie about evenst in his life and hype it up for TV.”   You Gotta love this guy, he has a-lot of what some people are lacking….humongous Courage and backbone.

SECRET SERVICE LEADERSHIP

Secret Service Upper Management

What’s Going On!

“Are we all missing something, why  would the upper management  of the Secret Service, allow what’s going on across the board of the agency to escalate? Does the agency have a beef with this President, or pass Presidents”

Modified by: C. Harrison/October 13, 2014/10:55PM Written first/October 5, 2014 by Journalist C. Harrison

Ok, let me be fair here, majority of the service members and staffers at the Secret Service which has 6, 700 staffers do their jobs and profoundly so and will  put their lives on the line to protect and serve this country. However,  in everything and in any bureaucratic agency  around the world big or small there is always going to be a few bad apples. The problem is this, these few bad apples in any given agency, are usually the ones who almost always, have the upper hand, why? we do not yet know, really. This scenario has to stop. It seem to me that the upper management of the Secret Service is just watching the agency slide down a inch at a time year after year; going into the pit and either don’t want to stop it or is unable to stop the train wreck. Who’s in Charge?

Recently, a few weeks ago, the Director of the Secret Service Julia Pierson, had to resign over allegations that she is sleeping on her watch, regarding several incidents that had taken place and continue to escalate this year alone. No doubt embarrassing the White House and the Agency itself. These incidents included most recent: War Vet. 1. Omar Gonzales-jumping the White House fence and got too close for comfort.  2. The President riding the elevator with an armed ex con, a known felon. 3. Tipsy Secret Service guards . 4. agents were sent to put out  or quail-down a domestic dispute…taking away man power from the White House. 5. Agents leaked details of the President’s schedule to the Romney Campaign. 6. Agents argued with prostitutes in Colombia. And 6. agents drunkenness in Holland. These are only a few incidents that were reported and we know of.

This behavior at the Secret Service as been going on for a very long time years, in the making. The freighting thing is this, what other serious incidents are there that we know nothing about?. Some in the media are asking if sequestration caused the Secret Service behaviors. Others argued that long hours sitting around doing nothing is a factor; but, no, the job is what it is and they sored their royal oats to get it. So, what are they saying? According to reporter Mary Sanchez, “Cultural problems at the Secret Service runs deep,” (Are you kidding me).. cultural difference at any job/institute/organizations are always a problem but, this is not just any agency. Here, people should put difference aside and work together as a unit…..after all, we are talking about the President and his family….even if.  Again, said reporter also noted that ,  “Culture eats strategy for lunch;” at the Secret Service….this is an outrage. Again, I call out, where is the leadership of upper management.

This kind of behavior, should not be tolerated and allowed to feed and embed itself inside such a prestige agency…..where does this leave us has a nation needing help to protect our Presidents? Here is the million-dollar question, Are we to believe that there are people inside the Secret Service , who really do not care about their Presidents? Or, is the agency a division like the NYPD, a candy store for takers…..really, is this how we want to actually look upon these institutions; I think not.  In addition, whoever is in charge, better start taking charge. I believe that position goes to the Chair of the Secret Service, Rep. Darrell Issa. He better pay more attention and give more accounts has to what is really going on in that agency….one nation will stand with one accord. His first stop the issues…not races issues but, the agencies ‘  inclinations…root-seeded differences….and find out why it is so, and who’s or those that  are pushing buttons ruffling feathers, in this case upper management. Next stop, clean house…like the Special Forces said…a few good men please. Need I say more.

It was a packed house of the media core….at the Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem, Wednesday night. There were no empty seat, all occupied.

First the Synopsis:  Two-time academy award nominee Jeremy Renner “The Bourne Legacy” leads an all -star cast in a dramatic thriller on the remarkable true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb.  Webb stumbles onto a story which leads to the shady origins of the men who started the crack epidemic on the nation’s street….and further alleges that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profit to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua. Despite warnings from drug kingpins and CIA operatives to stop his investigation, Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications. His journey takes him from the prisons of California to the villages of Nicaragua to the highest corridors of power in Washington, DC—-and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but his family and life.

The movie basically strengthens the beliefs that were already out there but, was not called out by the media or said out loud in public. Many in the communities understood what was going on but Webb’s story was never told fully, he died before it could catch breath. He was a courageous journalist and just maybe this story was his calling and why he came to us for a very short time.

After the movie showing….people asked questioned of a panel which included Rick Ross, the poster person of the epidemic-the crack trade back then, even though he was black and had no planes or ships etc. Ross explained how he was Oliver North’s  co-conspirator , yet he was sent to jail and North got called to Hollywood it seemed. This movie showed that Webb did not die in vain, he was the victor and the reason why  drug- dealing in America, while not gone from our streets, has died-down significantly.  which was the best hope. We would preferred that it was gone from the streets all-together and for good.

I implore all to go see the movie.
