I knew of John Holt, not personally but his songs and him as a Reggae artist. I first met and saw John Holt, at Club Carib in New Rochelle N.Y., back in 2002-2003 I believe, don’t really remember the date but I do remember him giving me his number to call him for an interview.  I was humbled, I did call but he was out of town; needless to say that was that. There he had performed and brought the house down , I will not forget that night because it was the same night that a little known singer by the name of Teddy Brown, also sang and trilled the audience. A night to remember, money well spend.

John Holt, was a legend in time…he gave us his all over 50-years, and kept his name on the calendar of events each and every year,  all the way up to 2014. He was a stalwart for Jamaica and will be missed dearly.  Thousands of Reggae lovers and Jamaicans alike mourned his passing a few days ago Oct 19, 2014; no one saw it coming…his music will be testimonies to  a generation yet to come and those that are already here.  Some of his biggest hits were: Blondie, Police in Helicopter and The Hide is High….just to mention a few. He was probably one of the most talked about Reggae Artist next to Bob Marley. He lived and die a humble artist with the sweetest voice one could ever hear, right up there with Dennis Brown, Luther Vandross and another veteran reggae artist  Jah Hammed.

Born July 11, 1947 ….he died October 19, 2014
