Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It seem like yesterday that Jessy Jackson, Steve Wonder and others went to Washington D. C., to seek the rights to get Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday put on the calendar. Yes, it was hard fought, there were those that were venomly not for the idea and of course the oligarchy were dead set against it.
It took 15-long years to change mines and finally in 1983, it became official, a federal holiday. It was signed into law by former President, Ronald Reagan. Three years later the first King Holiday was observed and in 2000, all 50 states obey the law. Here we are today vasting in all its glory.
Today, the question is, how far have we come? how much further do we have to go?…cry out for help and pray because our life depends on it. Dr. King taught us a lot of things, but are we following his teachings, are we taken up the battons, are we helping each other even if it pains us. Are we putting trust in each other and are we caring for each other.?
The answer is some, a few are doing what they are suppose to do but, no, the vast majority of this nation seems further away from each other and our populus has a very long way to go. A shame really, because Dr. King, along with others died and left us a road map to follow.
People do not let or allow the teachings of Dr. King and our elders go to waste. We must heed to there teachings on this very special Day, and from here-on. “God Bless Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for walking this earth.”
