My Father’s Place is a brand new place to frequent. It sits in a cozy corner set in the center of Roslyn’s township at the newly renovated Roslyn Hotel on Long Island. The new venue is replica of a supper club one would go to in Manhattan. Its a restaurant where you can dine on good food and also enjoy a quality show. I loved it and you will too,
This Tuesday night Black Uhuru is coming to performed for you. I promise you Roslynite it will be fun and money well spent. Do Not Be Late.

He is most remembered for winning a noble peace prize in 2001 and making history in the process. Mr. Kofi Annan, died in Bern Switzerland, August 18, 2018 at age 80. He was the seventh Secretary General to serve at United Nations. He served from January 1997 to December 2006. Annan came into this world April 6, 1938 in Kumasi Ghana and was a Ghanaian diplomat.
Mr. Annan attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Macalester College, Mfantsipin School and others. Many people cast him as a quiet man and most loved him as Secretary General. I surmised they loved him to the very end. He was missed when he left the United Nations.
Conversely, this Journalist had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Annan during my first year as a Journalist working for the New York Trend . It was around that same time that I met Queen Nuir, first at a seminar at the Roosevelt Hotel then again at the UN.
When I saw Mr. Annan I walked up to him and told him I was please to meet him. He then shook my hand and to my surprise he slightly bow towards me at which time, I did the same back to him. He both impressed and intrigued me thereafter. The two things that stood out about him and that I will always remember is that he was so gracious and humble even though he had power at his finger tips. Thereafter, I got the opportunity to see him in passing several times at the UN while attending functions or sessions.
I believe he was send here to make changes and he full fill that promise. He died peacefully and that’s what counts. He ascended to a better life. May he rest in heavenly peace. RIP
Mr. Kofi Annan”s spouse: Nane Maria Annan (M. 1984-2018)
Children: Kojo Annan, Nina Cronstedt de Groot, and Ama Annan

THE QUEEN OF SOUL GONE TOO SOON

Aretha Franklin, came into this world March 25, 1942 in Memphts, TN and assented August 16, 2018.in Detroit MI. Her music span the genre’s of Gospels. R&B, Soul, Pop and Jazz. Aretha’s death came as a surprise to some and to other it wasn’t. A lot of people knew that it was coming.
I say God takes them in threes. When Aretha, Senator John McCain and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan all died around the same time, weeks apart I look for answers and realized that they all had an innocent looking face that knows. Aretha is in good company.
Aretha Franklin had the voice of an angel. It was distinguish and no one could mistake it for another. When you see her footage’s they look sensational. Grace and dignity is what she’s all about and then you hear that voice, power house; pack with reliant and confident and showed a face of genuineness. Smokey Robinson said it best, he knew since Aretha was nine years old, that she would become someone to be reckoned with.
Her fashion statements were statements one had to pay attention when she walks onto a stage. Weather its her gown, her hair or her hats they were gonna be talked about long after she leaves the stage. Yes, her presents made the day which is why she “The Queens of Soul” got a day long funeral send off. No one surrounding her along with friends and fans was going to miss her send off which was in style, as it should be nothing less.
The Queen of Soul, was here for a short time but she blessed us for eternity. her music will lives on through the ages for generations to come. Yes, she was also one of the best/a creme of the crop that the music industry had to offer. Stellar! comes to mind when one thinks about who she was. The Queen of Soul is merely resting but she lives. She was heaven sent.
Mrs. Franklin left behind four children : Teddy Richards, Kecalf Cunningham, Clarence Franklin and Edward Franklin.
Spouse: Glynn Tunman and Ted White. RIP
