Colin Powell
Renown around the world he is respected by all. He was a Vietnam Veteran and four-star general. Colin Luther Powell, made history when he became the first black man and Black General bestowed the title U.S. Secretary of State, becoming the 65th secretary of state in the United States.
He was interviewed by the Academy of Achievement, in 1992. And became Joint Chief of Staff to former president George W. Bush, in 1998. Conversely, Powell ran for the Presidency in 2000, during former President Bill Clinton’s second term and could have possibly won, but gracefully stepped aside allowing Clinton to win peacefully; he got 52 percent of the votes.
Revered to, Powell lead a successful life inside and outside of the beltway D.C. un matched exemplarily. His one public indiscretion for which he took the full blunt of the blame was the Weapons of Mass Destruction plot…a ploy carried out at the time by the Bush Administration, for which Powell went in front of the UN and told the world that Saddam Hussein, was hiding these weapons.
The story was later recanted siting bad intel. The truth was Bush, at the time was sagging in the polls and needed also to protect his private oil reserve overseas. He pushed and wanted to go to war in Iraq. The embedded Powell was the corner stone of the Bush’s presidency.
In addition, by 2008 a young black Senator, Barack Obama, from Chicago decided to run for the Presidency. Quite arguably astonished, Powell became one of the Gem, as far as guidance for the young Obama Administration…although he (Powell) was a devoted Republican. Later, and before he ascended. he made sure that he voted for President Joe Biden, making sure pointedly that future generations should and must be protected and treated fairly.
“There is no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failures,” Powell have stated.
Colin Luther Powell, was a fellow member of the ROTC. An ingenuity, he left behind an unmatched legacy, and a legendary path to follow. He was an exceptional human being. He did a job well done and was a beacon to us all. He is currently the brightest added star in the heavens. Born in Harlem U.S.A. of Jamaican parentage his life begun in 1937 and sadly closed October 18, 2021. Colin Luther Powell died at age 84.
