A new legislative bill (S5924A) introduce by James Sanders Jr. D (Rochdale Village) is set to increase opportunities for Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises and spur the creation of sustainable small businesses and job. Assembly member Rodneyese Bichotte (D Brooklyn), will carry the bill (A8044A) in the Assembly.
The Legislature expanded the State’s General Municipal Law, thus creating additional procurement opportunities for M/WBE.
The expansion includes:

⋅ Permits pre-qualified lists for purchase contracts in addition to public works contracts.
“We can battle the tale of two cities by ensuring opportunity equality and an even playing field and that is what this bill insists upon,” said Senator Sander. “Working with those committed to social justice and economic opportunity such as Assembly member Bichotte has been invigorating.”
The Bill will amend the New York City Charter to authorize the City’s Procurement Policy Board to provide by the ruled above enhancement.

New York, NY—-A few months ago I wrote up a tiny vignette on a pamphlet called “Rent is Theft,” an insight on what was once Bushwick and what up rooted this area of Brooklyn. To say the least it was fascinating. Today, this announcement brings some solace to some and to those that have been in the trenches fighting the war on fair housing polices.
Some called it an historic win, in a 5-4 ruling the Supreme Court steer down the Fair Housing Act of 1968, a measure pass not too long after Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated.
The Supreme Court focused and cited how the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs allocated tax credits for affordable housing. The citation was where the state of Texas approved the construction of affordable housing along racial lines. In other words, affordable housing was only being build in minority neighborhoods, where renters and minority low income residents could only get those houses in those neighborhoods and vouchers could only be used in said neighborhoods and not venture outside into the white suburbs.
The Supreme Court decided whether to uphold a central protection under the Fair Housing Act, which has been used for over four decades to address widespread discrimination in housing and has been unanimously endorsed by our nation’s appellate courts. That protection often referred to as the “disparate impact” standard , ensured that banks, landlords and other housing providers use polices that apply fairly to all persons. Polices that seem neutral in theory can exclude or segregate particular communities in practice.
The protection under the Fair Housing Act, allowed the court to recognize and prevent harmful and inequitable polices so that everyone is treated fairly, according to the courts.
The Fair Housing Act protects all Americans from discrimination in housing and the inequality that results from segregation. Under the Act, it is illegal to discriminate based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability or familial status.
Today, we took a giant leap into the future and to preserve precedent civil rights polices for generations to come. Had this case law not pass, the significance of the civil rights law for the Fair Housing Act, could have been dealt a blow. The preciseness of the ruling sends a message to those that intentionally or unintentionally discriminate against minorities; that the practice has to stop. It is or as of today, was a measure used by FHA, banks, housing agencies, and some landlords.
OBAMACARE! HISTORICAL LAW OF THE LAND
By: C. Harrison/June 28, 2015/3:15AM
It was hard fought and some believed it was an uphill battle but, we the people did not waver. We knew that Obamacare was good for us, thus our nation. And so today the Supreme Court upheld the historic law.
This validates and vindicates the President, and his administration, who has worked tireless for the cause. Thus, making 16.4 million Americans around the nation to keep their health care coverage. It just make sense, the Republicans cannot mess with something they cannot disprove. When a policy or rule makes common sense and works for the benefit of most of its population for the better; don’t mess it up if you don’t have something better on the table to offer. Yes, today we win.
Health insurance companies didn’t want to fix or wanted us to have this kind of power. They are in the business of making money, not giving it away and they could care less about your ailments.
Somewhere in a back room we know that the Republicans are as we speak, cooking up a coup as to how to come up with some thing, to destroy this law at a later date. People, we have to be vigilant and unite on this front. Victory is ours today. Congratulations Mr. President.

New York, NY… Today The President is again calling for two year colleges to be free of cost. The President is sighting a burden-some percentage pay back, of which most believe almost all student cannot afford to pay back in todays economy. He is asking the nation to get involve lean on your congressional Senators-push for the change.
If you are a student in some cases you will pay back your loan in around 30-years from now. A big set back for those who want or dream of getting out of the house. In todays market most college grads have to come right back home for another 4 to 5 years—and that’s if they have parents or family members who can help them.
So yes, I agree with the President give students some breeding room. Make two years colleges free to student who want to further their education. Or, allow them to work at various public job site even recruit them into public service stations maybe for the first 10 years out of college.
There are a few people out their who still thinks that they can breeze through life without a good education or some form of higher learning and will tell you they don’t need it. Yet still, they go around using everyone else that they can, to help them with the basics.
Matter of fact, I think attending a free two year college should be mandatory for student. I strongly believe this. No one in today economy can get by without some form of college basics. If they do or did, I can bet you that they bothered a lot of people to get there.
The saying is, we all need help, yes this is true we should help our fellow men however and where ever its needed. And yes, always if you need help, especially if its something you can’t handle by yourself, by all means asked for the help. Given this, sometimes its down right pitiful what one is asked to do; when that person know that its basic stuff and the person who ask should know how to do it.. And they can walk, talk, hop and do somethings, for themselves.
Here I must stop myself, I have to be careful because looks can be deceiving. And one never know what position or alignment that person might be in or may have. The bottom line is we have to become a nation of educates, if we don’t our future doesn’t look bright.
