THE CONVERSION THERAPY ISSUE

WHAT ARE WE MISSING HERE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CHILDREN WITH FEELINGS AND MIXUP EMOTIONS

By: C. Harrison/April 9, 2015/4:25am

I promised myself that I was not going to charge myself by saying anything on the LGBT topic but, when it comes to school, education and children I have always spoke up.

Synopses of the report:

According to news reports and a AP report on yahoo coming out of Washington…. it said that “President Barack Obama is calling for an end to psychiatric therapy aimed at changing the sexual orientation or gender identity of gays, lesbian and transgender youth.”

The report said in a statement late Wednesday, White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said the administration supports banning so-called conversion therapy treatments for minors. This response comes on the heals of an online petition posted on the White House website following the death of 17-year -old Leelah  Alcom; where she stated that she was depressed and isolated, and that her life would only get worse. She expressed frustration that her parents wanted her to be “their perfect little straight Christian boy.” She went on to say that she was taken to “Christian Therapists” who were very biased.

According to the American Psychiatric Association they have long opposed conversion therapy, which the organization says is based on the assumption that homosexuality is a mental disorder.

My humble opinion:

Yes I agree that Christian Therapists using the technique of conversion therapy on children are inappropriate because some of these people are not professional therapist and can harm children. And yes again, LGBT people are not mental but, we do know that some are very mental.  And yes very young children can get very confuse.

I said all of that to say this if, children who are  LGBT and are displaying emotional confusion, are depress and angry, stressed out and is keeping themselves isolated then by God, they do need help from either family or a professional therapist or someone who can explained to them about what they are going through, how to defuse the problem or how to  handle it. This is if, a parent or both parents don’t know what to do and can not by no means help their child or children. But, yes these children certainly do need  professional help.

Especially, if these children come to be who they have become because of violence in the home or subject to molestations by anyone. With these emotions comes all kind of feelings confusion etc rapped up, intertwine.  Long with this, some of these children have medical issues undiagnosed by doctors and parents, not caught, children try to cope but they don’t know sometimes that its a medical disorder. Or that they were born malformed. Some parents deny it to themselves thus to children, some children asked  but are rebutted by parents who don’t talk. So, sometimes children are left to think that they are one way or that and really and truly they are not; their condition just needs to be explained.

I have always maintained that if grown ups can’t handle certain emotions about themselves, then how can a child or children with that same problems handle it. No child 9-26, should make life altering decisions. They should wait until they are 27 at least, till they know for sure what it is they really want to do with the their life, before altering anything.

Yes, some people are not like us, they are born emotional and will need therapist in their lives at all times or people who can always help them out of critical situations. Yes, I am not LGBT but this is my opinion. I know some of you are going to say keep your opinion to yourself, but this is how I see it.

MTA PAY ATTENTION

FRIDAY EVENING MAYAM AT THE SUTPHIN BOULEVARD/LONG ISLAND RAILROAD

SUBWAY CLERK BOOTH

booth                                        photo credit: C. Harrison

By: C. Harrison/April 7, 2015

The MTA, made sure that they make us pay astronomically more for riding for less. We the people have no voice thus, they get what they want even after all the Town Hall meetings. Yes its $117.00 dollars not $116.00 for a 30-day metro-card.

Friday, April 4, 2015, a long line awaits at the Sutphin Blvd/Long Island Rail Road-Subway toll booth…waiting on the toll clerk, who was no where in sight. This in the middle of a five o’clock rush hour. After a while people came and left, not using the machine observed.

“I did not want to wait on the long line tomorrow to put money on my card,” stated an older woman with a cane.

We stood there for what seems like over 20-mins. We did not know how long she was gone but there were no signs telling us anything and no other clerk was or came  inside the booth. We did not know if she left for a few minutes or gone home. People got frustrated and left, naturally I stayed. MTA, what are we paying you for?

VP MUST “HAVES” NO JOKE

VP Must  Be Working Over Time Because They Have Cooked Up A Bash (In Records That is)

By: C. Harrison/April 4, 2015/2:59am

First up…Carlene Davis, I can say this with a straight face, from the time Carlene Davis came to the stage back when I was a kid, she has done nothing but bless us with her voice. Truthfully, I remised myself forgetting that Jamaica…that tiny island has a flux of female singers that are natural born superstars with (voice);  matching that of any R&B singer in the world.  Recently in my last write up I named a few Female Reggae Artist, but left out this name Carlene Davis one of the crème of the crop; people, if you are a Christian or even if you just love music run out and get this album. You will want to have this one in your album  collection.  From the time you start playing it….you will be rejoicing and dancing until it’s finish. My favorites “Thank you Mr. Mandela,” “Jubilee feat. Papa San” and the best of all “Dripping Blood.” The album speaks for it self.

Second up…Selector A Yamaguchi’s  “Reggae Loves Jah”

I did a piece on Yamaguchi, about why he put this particular album together and it ran in the Caribbean Life Newspaper.

This was a well put together album I don’t know and have never seen anyone putting a campack cd like this one together. Seriously, these artist are on albums all over…but, this particular group -13 track is not only exceptional but its great and in a class by itself.  Giving praise to Jah and a thank you, salute and tribute to Heil Selassie 1. This album also speaks for itself. Talk about blazing fire or has we would say (DJ Chris Dubmaster) bun some fire a must have.                                                                                                           .

scan0007_crop         scan0008_crop

Third up…Maxie Priest’s “Easy To Love,” for me no questions asks, its a keeper I fell in love the first time I heard it. It is one of those album that you would listen to on a quiet warm spring day. You are in a happy mood…a date coming over. Lazy summer evening breeze…oh yes, Maxie is one of the best and this album resonate.  Loving it, gotta have. Maxie keep the vibes burning.

scan0001_crop (4)        scan0002_crop (2)

Fourth Up and last…Alborosie Meets King Jammy, Its called “Dub Of Thrones,” The album name alone said it all. People if you were born in the United States or on another foreign  soil this is a threat for you. Anyone who came from Jamaica or have gone to Jamaica and know about the street Dances or back yard dance party them, then you already know what this album is all about. If you are any kind of Dance Hall person, so you call your self, you should know rub-a-dub. Definitely a collectors item and any dj who goes to dance hall party, should have this in their arsenal. Enough said, I enjoyed it, refreshing to here…has been a long time.
