THE LATEST SCHOOL TO POP UP IN THE JAMAICA SECTION OF QUEENS

IS HILLSIDE AVENUE AREA TOO CONJESTED WITH SCHOOLS? YOU BE THE JUDGE

By” C. Harrison/March 13, 2016

The following school has just finished on Hillside Avenue at 164th Street by the central post office and directly across on 163 there is another school. A few blocks up on Parsons Blvd there are more schools and one other new school was just build on 90th street and Parson. Parson Blvd around 3PM everyday, is a nightmare for transportations, cars, buses, anything on wheels really.

The question is do people really want to put up with another school in that neighborhood. My guess is the fact that this new school has gone up and literally is finished already; no one listened to that community.

Now its a waiting game to see how it all plays out.

THE ADMIRATION AND LOVE OF MONEY AND THOSE WITH MONEY

DONALD TRUMP AND THOSE THAT TAKES A SERIOUS LIKING TO HIM

By: C. Harrison/March 8, 2016/4:27 AM

There is a saying “Money is the root of all evil” weather true or not there are those who love money and like /love people with money. It didn’t matter if said persons had a brain or not, it don’t matter weather the money is clean or not their ideology is; if you’re rich or have some form of money then you must be smart . As long as he/she has money, they are good in some peoples book.

I believe that this is how some people and supporters of Donald Trump are looking at this election .  Giving him the benefit of the doubt because he is rich and justifying their liking for him by claiming he must be smart for staying rich thus he would know how to run a Country. Being rich doesn’t mean that you can run a powerful country,  it takes a lot more along with divine intervention.

Money in itself is not a bad thing. We all need it to live on this green earth (Planet). We need it to work for us and to do things with….without it most don’t survive too long on this earth-(shame though). In some place on earth, there is no need for it because those people use a trading system.  Although, the ladder is hard to grasp in todays world but there is still a minor few place left unscave, not corrupt.

The question becomes do people like the Donald because he has a serious plan to offer this country. Can he really help his fellow Americans (this nation) or is he the salesman playing us.?  Do people really like him or the admiration for his money and the fact that he is rich?   Today, the daily lives of some people is admiration for those with money and getting money, no matter the cost and at all means necessary, whatever tool one has to use to get it, just do it. I believe Donald Trump is the persona of this title and the reason why certain people gravitates to him. His behavior and conviction is the embodiment of it…and of what some faced or had to face years gone by because of who they were.

Trump has yet to tell us how and what plans he have in store to run this country. He hasn’t give us any numbers ($) to play with, to make us see, if he has any wits about him. Talk is cheap and chatter blows in the wind, come again. Ask yourself, what is the significance of Trump running in this twenty first century election, why?. The story he gave about always wanting to become President and this might be his next challenge according to others, doesn’t not wash in my book. If he wanted to do this country justice then why use hints from the pass bringing up grudges, old demons that this nation doesn’t want to see repeat itself.

(I have repeated this slogan several times on pages of my blog and I will again repeat it here “Mind Your Mind For the Jewel of Your Soul” look into it very powerful.)

When a person is running for the highest house in the land he/she has to be held at a far higher standard, its not about giving the person the job because he/she has money and friends in high places; discipline, humility and strength of character plays a part; and thus for, Mr. Trump has not shown the nation any of this.

All we see is people showing him admiration  due to his money, slanderous jargons and his riches, not because they see that he can actually run this country. If there is a  set of people that are fed up it’s because of their own party, Republicans…the obstructionist and do nothing partySome say his message is what draws them to him (What message), he has none. And if he sees how tough the election is now, wait until he gets to debate one on one.

No one is saying that one cannot admire persons that have riches but, usually those person’s persona comes into play also. Do these people have a brain, stamina, ethnics, moral character and self discipline, in their mannerisms to go along with the riches thus making him/her more attractive package.  A President must have a refined persona about him/her with all these amenities to go along with it.

Right now Donald Trump is unbridled and have truculence.

ONE OF REGGAE’S MOST CHERRISH STALWART R.I.P.

WINSTON ‘MERRITONE’ BLAKE DEAD AT 75 YEARS YOUNG

th

By: C. Harrison/March 7, 2016

Winston Blake was a stalwart for the Island of Jamaica. He was also am ambassador to the very end…for over 50 + years he had embraced  our community and was the iconic embodiment of what Reggae was all about from its foundation days to the present. The Reggae Industry found its symmetry in what Blake created and his broad variety of music touched every genre…especially Jazz. It was said that he might be the best sound system operator ever.

Producer Blake, became iconic not only for his music but for his brand “Merritone” an yearly event that  attacks thousands no matter where on earth it’s showcased. His father Val started the brand in the 1950s, which was carried on by Winston and his brothers Trevor, Tyrone and Monty after their father’s dead. After his brother’s death, Blake took the helm and carried on the legacy began by kins.  Mr. Blake  was very soft spoken, always happy and always greet with a smile. His death took everyone by surprise. Most people have said they didn’t see it coming but God knows best.

I have been to Mr. Blake’s shows several times and each time he never fail to please his fans. The last time I saw him was a couple of years ago at VP Records -retail store at 172 Jamaica Ave, New York, where I was greeted with a smile and got a hug. Has I said on my Facebook page “We were graced and blessed while he was here.” His music have thought us well and will continue to teach the younger generations the varying depths of what Reggae is. History will have his name on their pages.

He might be gone but he will never be forgotten….he will live on through his music. He was a beacon to young Reggae lovers…especially those young musicians in Jamaica coming through the pipeline. Winston ‘Merritone’ Blake died at the University Hospital in Kingston, of asthma. Born 1940, his eyes closed February 27, 2016.  Service for him will be held April 2, in Kingston Jamaica.
