New York, NY……….Jolanda Jones, stars in the hit TV Show “Sister In Law,” a reality television show based in the City of Houston, on the WEtv channel. Its inhabitations are five characters including Jones, whom are Lawyers in their respective rights in real life. Jones who’s a Criminal Defense Attorney, also sits on the Houston School Board. The essence of the show is a dose of how well these lawyers handles themselves, conducts and juggles real life cases, in front of a camera in real time. To say the least these characters make their jobs look very easy.

My first impressions of Jones, was that she is impressive, precise, have  cool decorum’s, gives off a twig of assertiveness or authoritativeness and looks cool under pressure. She also, come across in a real way; her character grabs you and reels you in…maybe because she is tall good-looking and striking–a character you will  never forget. Watching her you get the sense that you can bet on her. I was intrigued with her story and character after watching several episodes and eagerly looked forward, to interviewing  the mystique character.

According to Mrs. Jones, this is her first season on this particular show.  She professes that she balances her  tv-work and her real-life work, by reacting to whatever she’s confronted with on the show. To do it, she said she have to keep in mind that she’s on camera.  Jones was a character on the 2005 weekly TV show “Survivor.”

The essence of the show is the on-going feuds with the characters and one such feud is between Jones and her co-worker, actor, Vivian, which is out of control.  Jones divulges that she didn’t hang around Vivian outside of TV or off the set.  “It puts me in situations I have or would never be in. So, I have to deal with it,” Jones said .

When asked does she ever worry about clients seeing her in the light the show, portrays her in?  “No,” she said.  “I have gotten great responds from people. Everybody loves the fact that I stay real. A lot of people forget where they come from if they come into money. Being successful didn’t stop me from being around my family. I don’t keep up with the Jones. The show have been well received for the most part, people think its positive,” elaborated Jones.

“My representative, is no-nonsense. The clients actually love being on the show. There have never been that client, who didn’t want to be on the show. Clients have to be on camera, they’re told before hand. In real life insecure people don’t like me. The ones who are confident do like me,” Jones said .   She also elaborated that she had a murder case where the client didn’t want to be on the show and that she doesn’t think of her cases, as TV-shows, even though she is doing them on camera .

Jolanda Jone, is no stranger to the spotlight, she has been in the media and public eye since 1979. Her journey to fame began in the eight grade, then in high school and grew from there. “I am who everybody knew in the industry. I have always been the Q local celebrity,” confirmed Jones. Later-on, taking an hiatus to be with her husband, she noted that he played basketball in Spain, where she lived for a while and didn’t have the limelight like she does now.

Moreover, the imperturbable actor have been a Lawyer for the last 21-years, which saw its inception in 1995. Jones was the hallmark figure who helped to bring down the Houston DNA Crime Lab. She described this has her biggest case. “I am the black legal expert in Houston,” she noted.

When ask to elaborate on the low points of being a lawyer, she conceded that its having to deal with Vivian.  She quipped, “I don’t hang around lawyers either in real life. I am here today because of what I have been through.” Jones, was recently sworn onto the Houston School Board, as of June 14, 2016. She had also worked for the Houston City Council, for a 4-year period from 2008-2012. She credited her grandmother for teaching her now to focus. She explained that there is not enough time in the day, so she prioritize.

In revealing her pass, Jones explained that she had been choked and raped.   She said candidly,  “I was molested by my Uncle, numerous family members were murdered, my house was burned down, I was tainted for being black and three of my grandmother’s children died. I am glad that I got out alive and turned out ok. So yes, I have the fight in me….the determination. I could have easily been on welfare or dead. So I thank God for being alive. I would rather be poor and happy then rich and miserable.”

How she maneuvered through life is exceptional for what she had gone through. Not many people could’ve come back from situations that egregious. Perceptively though, Jones proclaimed that she would rather die on her feet then live on her knees and that she was proud of her status financially. “I am comfortable,” she said. “I live better than most people. Has a child I would say I want enough money so I could fix or buy what I need. Has a child I felt I was not worthy. I want enough money to take care of my son. He is my greatest gift. I was going to be supportive of my son’s life. I am proud of my relationship with him,” Jones voiced. Her son is 24-years old.

When the critique of her Fashion sense came up, she explained it this way; “People are always asking me where do I get my clothing from and who taught me fashion sense. I got it from my aunt. She would tell me to (Wear it like you own it). My aunt gave me the confidence I needed,” emphasize Jones.  “I do not spend a lot of money on clothes. I whore stuff on the Show, that cost $8.99,” she confided.  Jones hope to get a fashion line out of it.

As for the summer break, the multi-faceted intellectual, in her unique mode of what a workaholic is and motherhood, Jones is content just looking forward to being a mother to her beloved son.
