Last year a pilot program for musicians to perform-play, at the Sutphin Boulevard, Long Island Rail Road Station-Air Train, at the concourse level was launched. “A pilot season of the Air Train Jazz Festival.”
Today, the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District, A Better Jamaica and the Jamaica Arts Council announced that. that program was successful and they’re expanding the series from eight consecutive Thursday evenings performances to thirty Thursday late afternoon/evening performances beginning on Thursday, October 15th and ending on Thursday, May 26th 2016.
ABJ, before scheduling you for a date, wants to determine if your band is a good fit for the opportunity. “We are looking for bands that can perform a couple of lively sets. We say this because right next to the performance space is a full service bar that can…on occasion provide robust competition.”
If you are interested in this opportunity please review the following schedule to determine if the time frame works for your group.
4:00 pm to 4:30 pm – Artist Arrive & Unload
4:30 pm to 4:45 pm – Sound Check
5:00 pm to 5:45 pm – First Artist Set
5:45 pm to 6:15 pm -Artist Break
6:15 pm to 7:00 pm – Second Artist Set
Compensation: $500 per performance
Performance location: Air Train Jamaica Station-located on the concourse level of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey: 93-40 Sutphin Boulevard.
Though we are not in a position to offer any back line support, we can offer a “Stage – hand” to assist anyone with load-in /load-out needs.
If all sounds good to you, then the last thing needed before booking can be arrange is for you to point in the direction-a website, Sound cloud page, or video-You Tube, Vimeo, or other wise- where we can get a final sense of your band’s appropriateness for the occasion. If selected to proceed, we will contact you with final steps and provide an online calendar where you can select performance date.
