Reggae Music Producer Phillip Smart Dead

He lived his life respectfully, he was respected by those of us who knew him or of him. It was one year todate, that I spoke to Mr. Smart and promised him that I  would come and visit his studio. That chance never came for me, Phillip Smart Died and the Reggae Music Industry is going to miss one of its best producers, (If you have ever heard of Reggae singer Garnett Silk), then you know the genius, Phillip Smart was. May he rest in peace. He was known to be a good person to all. My condolence go out to his Family and friends.

BEFORE THE MARCH 31 DEADLINE FOR OBAMACARE

On Saturday, March 1, 2014 a rally on behalf of Organization For Action, on Obamacare (the new Affordable Health Care Act) took place in front of  the Jamaica chapter of the NAACP building at 189-26 Linden  Blvd, St Alban, NY 11412

According to Queens public official, while there are 4 million newly insured Americans-who recently signed up for Obamacare, the job is not yet done;  ACA is looking for an actual sign up of 7 million people and they need 3 million more to go. If more than the 3 sign up it would be all the better. Todate, there are only 25 -days  to go for  the March 31, deadline. The South East Queens Congressional Delegation,  is urging members of our community, neighbors, family and friends who are uninsured to get in line and sign up before the deadline arrives.

Here  Are Some Facts You Need To Know:

The deadline to enroll on the exchange for health insurance is March 31, 2014.

In order to be covered on April 1, 2014, you need to enroll by March 15, 2014.

If you enroll after March 15, 2014 and by March 31, you will be insured on May 1, 2014.

You can enroll for ACA health insurance online via telephone, in person with the assistance of a navigator, or paper application.

If you have employer sponsored healthcare you can keep it. The ACA is not for you.

If you need help, financial assistance is available

You can’t be denied coverage, regardless of your health.

What We Learned From The XXII Olympic Winter Games

New York, What we learn from Sochi, was a lot about snow-boarding and I have to say hats off to those high flying snow boarders and great job;  because some of us could not even attempted what these young people did and are doing.

The games began February 7, 2014 and ended February 23, 2014. Sochi gave us 17-days of winter games and closed on record with the most expensive Olympics ever. Russia spent $51, billion dollars in investment on Sochi, $40, billion more than the Beijing Olympic. And according to news reports “The Russian bag of Sochi’s gold was the biggest ever hauled by a non Soviet team,” CBS.

In Sochi the IOC conducted a record 2, 631 tests, nearly 200 more than originally planned. Six competitors got caught in what was carried out as the most extensive anti-drug program in Winter Olympics history. One article I saw even noted that Sochi had a activist musical called Passy Riot, this also in the face of the games Russia kept up its anti-gay policies. The entire Olympic park took the Russians seven-years to build. The Olympics motto was: Hot Cool Yours.

88 nations took part in the Olympics, 2, 873 athletes took part and there were 98 events. This was the first Olympics stadium in Russia, where Sochi spurred up its telecommunication, electric power and transportation infrastructure of the city to make it all happen.

This was the first Olympics in Russia since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. The next Winter Games is in 2018. The games were brought to us by NBC Universal.  The end was as follows–

New York, In Kiev, the 8th largest city in the world a tag-o-f- war is going on between Europe and Russia battling over the Ukraine. The contingents, young people who do not want the status quo and want a better way of life in the coming centuries.

The Ukraine over the years since the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, got their independence and tasted freedom but, because of their complacency and ties to their lively hood of oil in Russia, not to mention there wanting to be treated like their counterparts in the West, the views of the young, who yawn for freedom, wants to  stop the manipulation of political systems, media power and cronyisms, (which as of right now, these entities are very problematic in all of the middle east), which is now roasting in Keiv, the young wants change.

The Ukraine in its independence saw short lived recovery and progressive decline in its economy lead by Leonid Kravchuk. His successor Kuchma, could not undone the decline fast enough; thus, forces got behind a new leader Viktor Yuschchenko, who look to the west and Nato for help, not getting what he wanted because of various opinions and the fear of hostility from Russia; thereafter, showed too much solidarity for and in Russia’s economic interest.  A revolution ensue and Viktor Yanukovych won in 2010; soon after he took over he stair back policies to Russia and imprison Ms. Tymoshenko, Yuschchenko’s Prime Minister,  Yulia Tymoshenko’s mistress.

So, driven by the young the Ukraine is informally under going rapid changes. More importantly, no one wants to go back to old Russia, the USSR. At stake is the Ukraine’s new found lifestyle and a luminous economic crisis. The nail biter, the Ukraine’s depends on Russia for gas supplies and the fact that it is center strategically part of a pipeline transit route for Russian gas exports to Europe, the Ukraine sandwiched between Europe and Russia.

Who wins, the Russian pipeline pivotal to two Country’s (Ukraine) and Europe growth or Freedom and stronghold to the west-Nato.  Well, I summit that the West will eventually win-out, even though Russia is stepping up its rhetoric against the Ukrainian people. Why because of Sochi; Sochi gave us a glimpse of the determinacies of what Russia will become. Vladimir Putin, Russia’s Prime Minister and gladiator I believe is not such a hard nose as we have come to believe, behind the exterior he has a big heart, you can see it in his eyes.

You see, Putin is a rich man and because he is so he will govern himself in that manner and run his country like any rich man would thus, he would want to keep the 46% of richest people in the world, who happens to live in the Ukraine going-to dominate, they won’t allow him to do otherwise. Unless of course he loves his people that much and use that big heart that I see that he has to help them.
