MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE TOWER ISLE’S FAMILY

Posted By: C. Harrison/July 24, 2015/12:54PM

I would like to convey my condolences to Mr. Patrick Jolly, and immediately family, as well as the extended family of the Tower Isles Food Distribution Company, on the passing of their love one via  Mr. Jolly’s mother, Ms. Flossie Hazel Salmon. Ms. Salmon was 105 years of age.  Ms. Salmon’s sun raised on March 24, 1910 and her sun set July 19, 2015.

There is never enough to say or ways to comfort a love one, a brethren, a relative or a friend, whenever someone dies. But It is in these times that one always have to look within and embellish responses, especially when the departed is 105 years young, a full life lived….longevity. Plenty of stories to tell….as the Tower Isles family, will no doubt tell them in the months to come. I hope Ms. Salmon, live her life it to the fullest.  May God continue to bless the Family.

Ms. Salmon funeral goes as follow:

Friday, July 24, 2015 @ 4p.m. -9 p.m.—Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Avenue, Westbury, New York 11590

Saturday, July 25, 2015 @ 10:00 a.m. Church of the Advent, 555 Advent Street, Westbury, New York 11590 —follow by burial @ St. Margaret’s Cemetery, 1000 Washington Avenue, Plainview, New York 11803

A Token/When you die

Where do you go after you die? Will everyone just cry and cry? Will I ride past the stars to a heavenly place? Do your problems and guilt get washed off your face? Can you spend forever and ever with a hole in your heart? Do you want to go back because you can’t  be apart? Do you see old friends you lost long ago? Can it take away the pain and sorrow? Would you give anything to live one more life?—–a poem by:   6 Grader Emmeline Vacanti

2015 NYC GROOVIN IN THE PARK REVIEW AND HIGHLIGHTS

GROOVIN SUCCESS STAR LINEUP

By: C. Harrison/July 14, 2015/6:26PM

New York, NY…..Jamaica Queens, is a part of the broader New York City land mass and although North East Queens, is a smaller section of this pie, we in this corner of the world have been privileged. Northeast Queens for the past 14-years have turned out some of the biggest concerts in New York State ever  without incidents via the Caribbean community.  The 2015 Groovin In The Park Concert carried over, making it that much a statement.

This year’s show success I believe was due to the stellar lineup. From the announcements on the  flyers, to the  outsourcing to people—finding out that Michael Bolton was on the roaster; along with some of the biggest names in Reggae on the international level, tickets sold out immediately.  It couldn’t get any bigger than that.

When a promoter authorize an amelioration, basically putting amenable personnel’s together- a colossal of mavens; you can only get one out come, efficient and effectiveness- combinations for success. And judging from previous years concerts, (not to say they weren’t successes) but, the 2015 Groovin concert showed off the improvements….not to the naked eyes of patrons but to trained eyes, or anyone looking for such improvements. Great job.

Forever a modest person,  the Promoter & Producer of Groovin In The Park, Christopher Roberts–owner of the Door Restaurant, which sits a block away from the concert venue…stated that , “The concert turned out magnificent. But we need to ensure that our gates are opened on time at 11:00 am Sharp.”  He said, “even though the opening of the gates were hampered  by the setup via delayed by rain, regardless; I wants to make sure that the gates are always open on time.  ”  As long as people are satisfied I have accomplished my goal,  We did good,” Chris Commented.

The excitement began when Luciano (the messenger) came to the stage, it felt unreal. He gave an outstanding performance and even joined patrons in the crowd–at which point we could not see him. I felt it for him when he mentioned that people have been trying to kill him. He said, “I got hit with a iron pipe.” My first though was who would want to kill this beloved. He got standing ovation. He was followed by the trailblazer from Clarendon Cocoa Tea, who shell down the Park.  And who always travel with his catalog: if attention is not pay to him. he will stay on stage for the duration–to which no one would complain. He said, “Because of the racial issues in America,  we have to come together.  And when you come to a  Cocoa Tea’s show, you have to come with energy.”  Tea paid homage to Berris Hammond and Shabba Ranks. He also got standing ovation and calls back to the stage. He gave his all as usual-magnificent.

Honing the stage thereafter was the fire man himself, Capleton and of course he blaze-up the crowd. A sound performance-wonderful. He belt out “Jah Jah City.”  “Every great nation needs vision but, if you don’t have profits there is no nation,” Capleton said.  Capleton also pointed out that Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. all got gun down–a political statement on guns. Right after he wilded the crowd with “Legalize Marijuana burn it.”

Following Capleton,  was a surprise on stage to the shock of 30,000 thousand fans, Stephen Marley; who send the crowd into a frenzy. We don’t get to see this ever, a nice surprise indeed. Then they did something on-heard-of and we will be talking about it,  in the history books forever. They brought: Luciano, Cocoa Tea, Capleton and Stephen Marley on one stage together, this, took the cake. I don’t think there was one person in that crowd who didn’t take a picture of the group, historical.  Whoever stage the lineup, needs to be recognize.

At intermission we listened to the sound of Bobby Condor and Jabba, who paid credence and tribute to Buju Banton, Damain  Marley, Jah Cure and Berris Hammond and others.  Next up was the family of love Morgan Heritage, who set concert goers in a trance. They also came with their a list of songs and began with “Strictly Roots” and “Don’t Afe Dread To Be Rasta.” They make  tributes to Toots and The Maytals and to Buju Banton also.  A stellar performance.

Another intermission saw D.J. Inferno, who hold is own. And then there were two,  mega superstars left—of which, first came Billy Ocean. He entered with a catalog of some of his biggest hits and he did not disappoint us. It was good to see a legend on stage. Clad in full white he gave us “There will Be Sad Songs” “One Of Them Nights” “Love Zone” “What Is The Color Love”  Suddenly” “Get into my Car” “Caribbean Queen” a new song “Here You Are” these among so many other favorites, excellence performance.

Lastly the man of the hour Michael Bolton, the toast of the evening; came with his A-game and showed his love to the Caribbean community.  His song favorite s were  “Sold Survivor” “If I Ain’t Got  You” these amongst his monster hits. The crowd loved him, The concert was money well spent everyone went home happy. There were something for everybody. Hosts for the evening was famed radio announcer Barry G, out of Jamaica, he got a legend award—very fitting. The last time I saw Barry G, was on vacation in Jamaica, 1982, on Red Hills Road at a street block party—where it was all about the girls on bikebacks and Clem, a New York radio announcer.

YES I AM VENICATED:

MY RESEARCH

By: C. Harrison/July 4, 2015/6:55PM

For several weeks…well actually for numerous years, I have been doing research on Glaucoma, I am a patient. Come to find out I have several other ailments combined with this eye effect. So I began doing some research on my own. I had ask my doctors to do some research on the findings of my results. Weather they did or not they never told me and a friend told me if, they did they will never tell or give me their findings, so I was left to fend for myself.

Recently, I came across some findings that correspond with what I had theorize and believed for a long time when I first read about MEN1 and my hyperparathyroidism before the surgery…….when I told my doctors they told me one ailment had nothing to do with the other ailment, so I kept looking and today I am being vindicated because  what I theorized about was right in front of me..

You see, I needed a name for what all my ailments were but no one knew what it was. And several years ago before I did my eye surgeries: the lasers in both eyes and eventually got a tube in one of my eyes…I am still very young. Keep in mind that both eyes are pigmented severally, which I see as mutations which was what caused me to enticed the links.

Now I come to find out that MEN1 is the culprit cause for Hyperparathyroidism, nerves issue, some heart issues and host of other Endocrine issues. More so now, with the call to harm of: Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia 2B (MEN2B) with Glaucoma Associated with codon 918 Mutation of the RET Proto-Oncogene. I used the word vindicated because I knew that they were all link, they had to be.  Again, you see, if something is wrong in your body and their is no cut clear sign of what, who or why the phenomenon is occurring and their is a clear sign of one element or factor associated with all or most of the sited spec, then that associated spec is a dead ringer for the cause…this is my theory and belief.

So yes, I believe that the rare heredity-mutated-dominant-genes, of MEN1 MEN2A  MEN2B, and MEN3  are the sold cause of these aliments far;  benign (fibroids) -adenomas of the: pituitary glands, pancreatic gland, adrenalin gland which also causes eye blindness and High  Blood Pressure (HBP), Hyperparathyroidism-(PTH) levels along with other heart ailments and those people with malignancy in these glands.  I also believe that this includes the myelin Sheath via the Nervous System. MEN1 is one out of every 30, 000 persons.

I could be wrong but I strongly believe that I am on to something and so far my research is proving me right. My research is on-going.

JUNE IS BLACK MUSIC MONTH AND ONE OF ITS FORMOST OUTSPOKEN SEND A REMINDER

WORDS FROM ONE BLACK MUSIC MOGUL

A STATEMENT

Written By: Angelo Ellerbee, President and CEO of DoubleXXPosure/June 30. 2015

scan0006_crop

Reading Mr. Ellerbee’s statement reminded me of what Black Music, is all about. Where the music have gone, where it came from (born) and where it will be taken. This piece was important enough for me to share it  with you, so that you can also remember the long fought battles that got Black Musicians where they are today and the importance to keep it going for future generations.

According to Mr. Ellerbee,  how can we celebrate in one month, music with root-.extending from the call and response message of slavery; through the empowerment era of the civil rights movement into the mainstream industry of today? we cannot. Just as we cannot shelve musicians who are veterans of the industry, who has mentors, could offer tremendous contributions born of their struggles, triumphs and lessons.

These musicians are wiser, smarter and eager to share the knowledge they have gained; but don’t share the lifetime adulation afforded by fans of groups like say: the Rolling Stone, the remaining Beatles or Barbra Streisand-who all remain tour-attracting superstars well beyond the ages; Black stars are considered washed up. Conversely, older artists, who are black Music originators, while largely ignored are still around to watch their styles, sound, and trend setting music borrowed by other cultures in the mainstream.

Many listeners of popular music decry that the music is missing messages and meaning these days. Others, claim that culture vultures have taken over vital elements of Black Music from Blues to Jazz, R&B and even Hip-Hop. In each era, from the traditional music of Africa that found its way to North America and Europe via the slave trade, to James Brown, reminding a generation to be Black and proud—music has held both the message and the means for people to empower themselves. Power, could include utilizing the music veterans and their skills to shepherd the seemingly out of control youths in the industry today. Power includes new young artists, making the most of multi-million dollar recording contracts and international exposure to say something to motivate and galvanize this era–as Black Music has done for centuries.

It was out of the tumultuous 1960’s and the war torn years of the early 70’s that Black music emerged to raise its fist and stir an entire nation into self-pride and Black power.  It was on the trail end of this movement in 1979, that intrepid musicians and industry executives Dyana Williams, Kenny Gamble and Ed Wright, developed the idea to celebrate with a month dedicated to the impact of Black music.

The trio successfully lobbied former President Jimmy Carter, to recognize the world-altering contributions of black music; Chaka Fattah, as US-Representatives, sponsored House Resolution 509 in 2000, which acknowledges the importance of Black Music on the economy. In 2009, President Barack Obama, went a step further when he made June, African American Music Appreciation Month; set to commemorate Black “Musicians, composers, singers, and songwriters (who) have made enormous contributions to our culture.

Since its launch, Black Music Month, has grown into what actually should be just the beginning of a daily campaign to bring this art form to the forefront as a marker of historic, economic and social importance. This must be the frame but not the finish of an ongoing recognition that is not swept under the rug, like some veterans of Black Music, once the month’s deadline has expired. The messages lead them to roads of freedom. The messages of Nina Simone or Odetta, James Brown and the Last Poets….all spoke to our souls about what it means to fight for that freedom-this era’s responsibility is to not sleep on that great torch that has been passed.

For the cultures who have so admired and respected Black, music so as to emulate it; there should be a additional amount of ongoing education about what lies within the hearts of the African, turned Americans that makes the music we all love and what it will take to preserve those messages for future generations.

MAYOR DE BLASIO CAME THROUGH FOR NEW YORKERS IN HIS VERY FIRST TERM

RENT FREEZE OF HISTORIAL PORPORTION

By: C. Harrison/June 30, 2015

Today, all New Yorkers who rent are walking, talking, running and breathing a sigh of relief. it was only a few hours ago that 1million plus tenants, were in a anxious and hanging position. But, relief came last night when the Rent Guideline Board voted 7 – 2  to put a freeze on rent for tenants with new leases or renewing one year leases, beginning Oct 1, 1015 through to 2016.

The freeze was an historical moment because in the Boards 46-years of service, this was the first time that they made such a decision. The freeze calls for a record setting 1% increase for one year leases and a 2.75% increase for two year leases.

According to Mayor Bill de Blasio, “Today’s decision mean’s relief.”

A rent-freeze was a campaign that the Mayor, fought for since he came into office and had voiced even before then. He advocated  for it and got his wish in his first term, in tow, pleasing New Yorkers immensely.

According to  the Wall Street Journal’s Josh Barbanel, only the two designated owner representatives on the nine-member board appointed by Mayor de Blasio, voted against the freeze this year.

Mr. Barbanel, also noted that this year’s push for a rent increase got a second wind when the operating cost report found that costs had risen only 0.5%, after a 20% decline in fuel prices that offset increases in property taxes and utilities.

All in all, June was a great month for the nation, because the Supreme Court also stayed the rent regulations laws that protects renters rights throughout NYS.  Not to mentioned another precedent/historical move by the Courts to give Gay People the right to wed . Yes, June 2015, was of historical mandate, not to be forgotten anytime soon. These wins allow (We the people to win) one nation under God, this week.

FATHER’S FATHER’S I DID NOT FORGET

FATHER’S NOT REMIS OR DIS

By: C. Harrison/June 30, 2015

New York,   Like mother’s, father’s are also our greatest commodity and I would be remis if I did not point out how lucky man kind is. Yes, we  need mothers but without fathers all of us might not have been here on earth. So, June 21, is a very important day for all of us.

Happy belated Father’s Day to all my colleague out there who are fathers and to those that are aspiring to be fathers, I certainly didn’t remis. I hoped that all of you, had a wonderful day.

This is especially to those youngmen out there who have children but can’t see them or have never seen their child or children ever. Others men out their worried about their children for lack of contact. Keep trying God sees all things. And always remember this motto: (Mind Your Mind For The Jewel Of Your Soul) keep tabs on what your mind is telling you to do or what it wants you to do. Sometimes what your mind wants is not good for you. Keep it in check constantly.
