INTRODUCTION OF A BILL TO SEND STUDENTS TO COLLEGE FOR FREE

Posted By: C. Harrison/Feb 3, 2016

Senator James Saunders Jr. Introduces Legislation (S6598)

State James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village) introduced Legislation (S6587) on January 29th that would allow students to attend community colleges statewide for free. It is called New York Promise Program and would provide a tuition waver in the form os a grant to those who quality.

Applicants for the New York Promise Program, would need to be enrolled in a community college and meet the following criteria:

•     Taking courses required for an associate’s degree, a program in career and technical education or a one0year curriculum for students who plan to transfer to another college.

•     Resident of New York for at least twelve months prior to enrollment.

•     Received their high school diploma or GED in New York

•     Enrolled within six months of graduating high school or receiving their GED.

•     2.5 GPA or better

•     Accepted all state and federal aid grants available.

•     Not completed more than 90 college credit hours.

“For far too long, a lack of financial means has prevented bright young people from becoming the stars they were destined to be,”  Sanders said. “The New York Promise Program will ensure that our children have access to the educational opportunities necessary to compete in today’s economy.”

By 20/20, an estimated 35 percent of job openings will require at least a bachelor’s degree and 30 percent will require some college or an associate’s degree. Some 30 percent of college students in America are enrolled in a community college.

Sander’s legislation is modeled after a similar program that was signed into law in Oregon in July. President Obama also has a comparable initiative called America’s College Promise with the goal of making community college as free and universal as high school.

BRAZEN AND EDEGY! RAP IS BACK “RAW & UNDERPREVILEGED”

THE  REVIEW AND INTERVIEW WITH TRUEZ

scan0001_crop_crop

By: C. Harrison/January 29, 2016/5/5:03am

Immediately the CD “Raw & Underprevileged,”  by the rap group Truez, became a favorite; its old school flavor and more importantly, the style of how the Rappers were rapping. The Rappers use easily catch-on tunes where one could rap-along and it collimates cutting edge lyrics which speaks directly to this generation of youngsters. The team uses powerful nostalgic jargons to draw on solvency and innovations which lends itself to intricate stations of young lives.

In addition, Truez’s lyrical words are nail bitters, while speaking truths, use a twist reverting back to first generation raps; grapping an-across the board audience. Remember when you were growing up and your parents told you wise old tales that you did not necessarily believe but got older and realize that they were telling the truth that kind of twist.

The riveting CD, is quite an impressive masterpiece that dropped October 20th, 2015. It is edgy, raw and wise. I am a major music lover and is reiterating that this album has everything. I could not stop myself from listening and comparing these four unbridled rappers, sprouting words straight out of the old-school era that fit right into todays metaphor.  I truly began wondering if any of their Parents, were musicians or rappers from the 80s or even 90s; because they’re polished, poised and knows just how much unleashing to exercise.

The CD, is also a conscious thought seeker that will become a hit classic. If it is marketed properly,  will be talked about in history. There Art work is highly conspicuous and these guys will be coming at you with more fire; which, one could see brimming at the surface when I interviewed them last summer, in Harlem.

According to Truez, whose real name is spelled the same as the album,  found is calling at the tender age of thirteen & half, he is now 24 years old. Truez revealed that he became serious about hip-hop in 2009, but before this, it was his debut project that led the way, the 1991 A.R.T. (American Rebel Tales). These early days foundations lyrics featured the powerful and intricate track “Pharoah Skin (Only Black In The Room);” this was followed by the establishments of two videos “The Growth Record” and “Heaven Knows.”  Truez, explained himself noting that he can not sing R&B, so he uses raps to express himself and to convey messages.

“I know rap was working for me when I heard people talking about me to others who let me know what’s going on,” stated Truez. In addition, the story-teller conceded that Raw- is his delivery and Underprivileged is what he did not have as far as being African American. “I did not want to go super lyrical, I wanted to deliver the truth, right at you and intense,”  articulated Truez.

Moreover, He pointed out that 6 to 7 months ago, he was relaxing himself to other people and started tapping into his life. He said that he would write on notebooks, pencil-in things and burned notes into his head; thus he ended up writing alot of lyrics. He said for 7 months thereafter, he recorded two CDs and had to figure out what goes with what and the world told him to go with this latest album, “Raw & Underprivileged.”  “G.T. in Atlanta inspires, I also watch a lot of movies and the blog videos are by B-Eye Ajanna, she did the blogs for Underprivileged,” the Rapper confided.

When confronted with the fact that he and his team are very good Rappers! the contumacious Rapper, who had great decorum and is very much nonchalant where this fact is concerned, explained lavishly that its really rapping from the heart.  “Others rap from other people’s things but we rap from another path; old school emotions mix with the times now,” he contends. The Rapper further disclosed that all they can do is navigate; just stay tight. ” We are making it by staying tight.”  scan0003_crop

Additionally, what Truez and his team want from this album, is opportunity. They also want to push other marketing ideas including giving fans CDs and shake hands with them, make conversations, start something with them. “We have done plenty of shows in Atlanta and Long Island. We are looking forward to a Taxes show in January and an Element show in Augusta Georgia. I want one award and I’ll be cool,” proclaimed the astute Rapper.

What’s next for Truez,  “New Trap City,” a full length project the crew hopes to drop together.  The educator, described his team this way, “72s wins me and Cool, Erin and Journey….all the names to my CDs are mental. Journey–he’s the center, Cool–do everything well balance (The strategist), like a three pointer, and Erin–is like the office. Creating under the 72-umbrella, is the best team,” said the humble Rapper.

“I want to be on tour, I want a lot of songs and I want my songs to be known. I want to be in front of a crowd and for the crowd to know my music; I love New York  A.R.T. (American Rebel Tales), was the first official project which everything I dropped is under, this timeline goes back to the essence.”  “My Mom, narrated it and she doesn’t know this is in effect R91.” “My prophecy is to do tight and live mega-hype,” finish the Virtuoso.

The group is currently teamed up with DJ Kay Slay, who have thus far produced videos,  “Super Villian,” “Live It Up,” “No Motives,” and the much talked about successful project Teue3nough which generated, “Peeping Tom” “The Zone” Ga 2 NY” and “Easy On The Weed.” 2014- saw the group’s second project Damn My Lifetime, featuring the rapid fire rap “Sarcasm.”

If you’re any kind of a rap enthuses, you must pick up a copy of this CD (Album), or I promise you that you will be left out. If you have not heard this rap group’s music  you have been deprived. get your copy-go online

THE PRESIDENTIAL RUN

Shaping Up And Sharpening Skills

By: C. Harrison/January 28, 2016/8:43 pm

Thus far there has been debates on both sides of the isles and one thing is clear,  the Republicans are no where near Presidential Materials. No one on the RNC side running for President stack-up to what a Presidential nominee should look and sound like–none on the Republicans side  fit the bill.  Moreover, all of their debates have gone in the tank, they basically ran each other over came up with  mud slinging back and forth and we learned nothing new. Matter of fact at this late stage of the game going into Iowa, we know nothing about the Republican front runners apart from their backgrounds which is saying something but not much.

On the other hand, the two debates that the Democratic have held– defined and shaped where the race is going, what the issues are and how to fix them. Dems, debates have so far carved out real front runners gave the American people something to define; (what we are in for as the race plunge ahead). The second democratic debate January 17,  allowed people to start taking hard looks at which candidate they want to side with and push the envelope as far as who their best choice could be.

On opening remarks for former Secretary of State, Hillary Radom Clinton stated:  “I think America is great and it’s the hardest job in the world and I am prepared to take on the challenges.” According to Senator, Barnard Sanders “This is a about Political Revolution.”  And Senator O’ Mally stated,  “Love would have the final word. We need new leaders we need to build on what President Obama started and I need your help to do it.”

Their first 100-days in office: Senator Sanders, “Bring America together–all would have to pay their fair share and let Government work for all the people.”  Hillary Clinton, “I would work to bring this Country together and build on Obamacare and give equal pay to women.”  Senator O’ Mally, “I would bring in a new agenda and build on the Obama administration.”

” I am putting billionaires on notice, its Wall Street’s turn to bailout the Middle Class. I will do away with private health insurance and I want people to know that Congress is own by big money,  they don’t want  to do what the American people want,” said Bernie.

Mrs Clinton stated, “I will go anywhere with anyone to talk about what we can do to make this country work.” Clinton also spoke out on what was going down on Wall Street and how she will continue to work with them to make sure that what happened there, don’t repeat itself. Mrs. Clinton had knowledge of all the issues and have been at times, advisor to President Obama. She has been in the war-room and she more than all of the candidates put together, have priv where most don’t; so should anything happened on the first 100-days in office she would’ve already been up-to-par.

According to Mr. O’Mally, he again stressed that the Democratic Party, needs a new agenda, What that agenda is he didn’t say.

Looking towards Iowa’s election we have clear choices-because from here on out, it’s full blown war’ for the White House. In this 21st century and with what history has told us and has four site to warned us about, we cannot afford to not pay attention. We have seen all the signs and biggest of all–we see where we are headed and yes, even though it will help us it will ultimately be our demised if we are not careful “Technology;”  we must stay on our tippe toes at all times and on guard.  So yes, the next President is more important than  one thinks and have to be carefully chosen. Also, I would hope that this incoming President can see fit to give Native Americans back, their ‘rights’ of passage (Give them back some of their birth rights). Finish what President Obama has started.  We must pay attention!!!!

THE DEMOCRATIC VOICE

EXPOSE OF AN OPINION ON

THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

unnamed.jpg p7_crop

By: C. Harrison/January 27, 2016/7:00 pm

The President gave his last State of The Union Address on a blissful night, where he listed a litany of things that he had accomplished with the help of the American people and courageously pointed out some of his triumphs and one regret but, mostly he shared with us what he still wanted to do for us—the American population before he leaves office. He stated pellucidly, that his efforts won’t change.

One of the outstanding Bill that this President tried to work on but could not get the Republicans cooperation on was Gun Violence. The President voiced that he will do everything in his power to help  bring about changes in the Gun Violence Bill.

“This is a proposal that they’ve spends decades putting together which has not change anything. How did this become such a partisan issue? We can find courage to cut through the noise,” said the President.

The President also unveiled a New Excel Action, on Guns. he will focus on unlicensed dealers, tighten enforcement and ask Congress for Mental Health Funding; which is long overdue and I hope people will not abuse. He also mentioned that he will seek to improved immigration laws and help college bound students attend tuition-free two year colleges; also continue to  strengthen his healthcare initiatives (Obamacare); keep fighting to ensure that woman get equal pay for their work and continue to work with the international coalition to force Isis back, while keeping Russia, China, The Middle East and North Korea at eye level.

What the Republicans and Tea Partier fail to understand is that if, this beloved man had not stepped up and become President, when he did; this Country and a few others, would’ve been swimming in mercury right now. No, rich people would not have bailed us out because they’re even richer in other countries so, it wouldn’t have serve their purpose. Some, are even trying to destroy this Country has we speak. Maybe, a few or one or two of these rich folk might have band together to save us, the ones who value the Country.
