Harrison\/January 19, 2015\/4:32am<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It seem like yesterday that Jessy Jackson, Steve Wonder and others went to Washington D. C., to seek the rights to get Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday put on the calendar. Yes, it was\u00a0 hard fought, there were those that were venomly\u00a0not for the idea\u00a0and of course the oligarchy were dead set against it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It took 15-long years to change mines and finally in 1983, it became official, a federal holiday.\u00a0 It was\u00a0signed into law by former President, Ronald Reagan. Three years later the first King Holiday was observed and in 2000, all 50 states obey the law. Here we are today vasting in all its glory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today, the question is, how far have we come?\u00a0 how much further do we have to go?&#8230;cry out for help and pray because our life depends on it.\u00a0 Dr. King taught us a lot of things, but are we following his teachings, are we taken up the battons, are we helping each other even if it pains us. Are we putting trust in\u00a0each other and are we caring for each other.?<\/p>\n<p>The answer is some, a few are doing what they are suppose to do but, no,\u00a0the vast majority of this\u00a0nation seems further away from each other and\u00a0our populus has a very long way to go. \u00a0A shame really, because Dr. King, along with others died and left us a road map to follow.<\/p>\n<p>People do not let or allow the teachings of Dr. King and our elders go to waste.
